BBKB was established by local kiting enthusiast Suzie Petersen in 2002.
Susie is an IKO level 2 accredited instructor and a passionate kite surfer.
In 2006 the school was taken over by Stephan Kleinlein and Joe Stein, who are the heart and soul of Byron Bay Kite Boarding.
The School operates with IKO accredited kite surfing instructors and
also instructors in several other extreme sports like skydiving, snowboarding and kitesports.

Stephan Kleinlein

Born in Germany
Calls Australia home since 1993.
Travels the world all year around for special
extreme sport events and to take interesting
video & photo shots.
For the last 15 years has instructed people in various
extreme sports, such as skydiving, kite surfing and
snowboarding.
IKO level 2 accredited.
Loves Movies, Design and Photography,
devoted to the Ocean, the Sky and the color Blue.

Joe Stein

Born in Israel.
Calls Australia home since 2005.
Professional videographer and successful TV producer,
produced programs for the National geographic channel
and Sony Pictures.
Extreme sports fanatic and professional skydiver.
Has instructor ratings for the last 8 years.
Believes that Kite Surfing is the sport of the future, it is
environmentally clean and uses no natural resources
besides wind.
Has a 4 year old boy called Itamar, who is going to
be the next generation of extreme sports athletes.
At the moment he prefers climbing on things and
jumping from them.
